I am a incoming freshman and I intend to rush a frat at the University of Florida. The best fraternity is one that matches your goals, needs, and ethics and at which you feel most welcome.

Greek life is relatively new to most incoming first-year students at the University of Florida. For many students, this rush to jump into Greek life at UF is a source of anxiety for trying to find their way through college. Yes, fraternities are very popular at the University of Florida. There are nearly three dozen fraternity chapters at UF, including traditional Greek organizations and multicultural chapters for students of specific racial, ethnic, and social groups. Multicultural fraternities make up nearly one-third of all chapters at UF, making them well-represented on campus and in the UF Greek scene.

I know very little about the frats at UF with regard to their respective reputations and whatnot. Some of my friends in my one semester at American University were Pikes but I never felt compelled to rush right away since I thought I would be there throughout my entire undergrad experience. So naturally, I decided I was going to rush Pike at UF, only to learn they were suspended until ! Any info would be helpful people. They have a monopoly over all the rest of the fraternities. Pi Kapp is good if your from Miami, S. The ones not from Miami, are from S. Might get only a few guys from Jax and Tampa. A breath of fresh air would be cool. SigEp and Sigma Chi are good too! Check them out in the fall and let us know what you think. Looks like the basketball team is fresh, but good things are coming. Did you rush? How do you like the feel of the town so far? Welcome to UF!

It might have been before you got to UF though. I know that here we only have a total of about 5 hours during official rush to decide which houses you want to attempt to get a bid from.

These two columns represent the number of new members joining the chapter during that semester and the total number of members number members plus already active members. This information relates to the average GPA for that semester. If no information is listed, then grades have not yet been calculated for that semester. However, as soon as grades are available, the scorecard will be updated with that information. For previous, or more complete, chapter GPA information, please review past semester Greek grade reports here. Inspections are conducted at least once per year, if not each semester. Upon completion of an inspection, the inspector tabulates the total number of points assigned to a house and determines whether they passed Level 1 or Level 2 or failed Level 3 the inspection. Houses must correct the violations within 30 days or may face a variety of restrictions, including not being allowed to host social events in the house. Is there any link looked at the UF site and national where I can learn more? Some of the top houses, like Sigma Chi, pretty much ignore everything but social. Numbers are still important. All the top fraternities are paired with the top sororities. What percent of University of Florida students participate in fraternities? Why is objective important? SECdomination, I found your list interesting. Thanks for your kind remarks about the Pikes and the house. Auburn was it? It is always drama and HUGE issues. Are fraternities popular at the University of Florida? They compete in the small fraternity intramural league and they don't do particulaly well. Two things: First, my understanding is that your alumni are conducting a capital campaign to buy the "clubhouse".

I thought I heard something about how a lot of them have their own apartment buildings! Don't get started on a "Florida not being a southern state" speech. I hear it way too often, and it gets old fast. I almost died. Enough said, I think. They'd probably just like to know a little bit about what they're getting into. I don't kow what's going to happen with those two empty lots. ATO alumni tell me they're going to build, but they won't be back on campus until and I don't know how long it will take them to grow large enough to support a man house. Did you rush? We'll keep that in mind, but I think we're doing pretty well. As part of their recruitment efforts, the fraternities point to the leadership opportunities, philanthropic efforts, and brotherhood within the larger UF campus that Greek life offers potential fraternity members. Everything is going great. On a campus where the social atmosphere is entirely "southern", recruiting a racially diverse membership will damage a chapter's chance of being taken seriously by the top-rated peers and sororities. They aren't really a southern-type fraternity. The campus is going to more than double in size with the football stadium being right in the middle.
