The point of this review is to see just how well the GTX folds…and by well, I mean not just raw performance, but also energy efficiency.
When we started dissecting the power consumption concerns around the Radeon RX , that have since been mostly addressed by AMD with a driver fix and new control panel option, I knew this meant a much more strenuous power testing process going forward. How do we do it? Simple in theory but surprisingly difficult in practice, we are intercepting the power being sent through the PCI Express bus as well as the ATX power connectors before they go to the graphics card and are directly measuring power draw with a 10 kHz DAQ data acquisition device. A huge thanks goes to Allyn for getting the setup up and running. What you are looking at here is the power measured from the GTX From time 0 to time 8 seconds or so, the system is idle, from 8 seconds to about 18 seconds Steam is starting up the title. From seconds the game is at the menus, we load the game from seconds and then we play through our benchmark run after that.

This is the graphics card that super-nerds and gamers drooled over. These are beastly cards, capable of running most games with max settings in 4K resolutions. CPUs provide a good baseline of performance, and certain molecular simulations can only be done here. However, GPUs, with their massively parallel shader cores, can do certain types of single-precision math much faster than CPUs. GPUs provide the majority of the computational performance of F H. Only the RTX Ti is decidedly faster. The Nvidia graphics driver version was Power consumption measurements are taken on the system-level using a P3 Watt Meter at the wall. I did extensive testing of the Ti over many weeks. Here, I have averaged my Points Per Day results out over many work units to provide a consistent number. For example, here are five screen shots of the client, showing five different instantaneous PPD values for the Ti. The following plot shows just how fast the Ti is compared to other graphics cards I have tested. As you can see, with nearly 1.

Why you can trust Tom's Hardware Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test. We see power drop a bunch once the Ti reaches its full operating temperature, which means it's hitting a thermal limit and being slowed down by GPU Boost. To back our claim, we recorded the temperature and clock rate during warm-up and plotted them in the same graph:. Our stress test yields the same drop in frequency, though it's less pronounced due to the much higher load.

A look at our library of data yields some interesting findings. However, the Ti gets there faster, giving the Titan X a boost early on. Also interesting is that the Titan X's curve is a lot smoother than the Ti's, which behaves somewhat frenetically.

Written by Kevin Jones. When building a PC, I can't stress enough how crucial it is to choose the proper power supply. It's essential to provide stable and efficient power to your computer's parts, protecting them from power fluctuations and ensuring your system's longevity. I have experienced the consequences of an inadequate power supply and can tell you that it's not something you want to risk. My team and I have extensive experience building PCs. We understand the importance of choosing the proper power supply when building or upgrading a computer. After extensive testing and experimentation with numerous power supplies, we have encountered our fair share of good and bad ones.

These are loud, and tend to run hotter than open-fan coolers, so overclocking and boost clocks are limited compared to aftermarket designs. Really happy with my G2 great performance and comes with terrific selection of high quality braided cables.

That power draw is much That power draw is much smarter when it come to repartition than the mess that was stock RX at launch. Skip to content. I will have to reduce the power limit to get the card to throttle back this will happen in part 2 of this article. Haven't received registration validation E-mail? I've got a Ti now, and I thought I could hold out until Christmas or so to upgrade, but seeing that this card has nearly double the FPS
