Vinland saga season 2 episode 4

After his father is killed, young Thorfinn joins the mercenary band of his murderer Askeladd, waiting for his revenge while Askeladd plots politics. Young Thorfinn longs for an adventure far from his home in Iceland. One day, his father saves the life of a runaway slave found buried in the snow. Meanwhile, Thors and his army of enthusiastic young men embark on their voyage. Hoping to save all the villagers, he offers Askeladd a deal. Leif breaks the news to Helga and Ylva. Driven by his hatred for Askeladd, he grows to become a capable warrior. Smelling an opportunity for treasure, Askeladd decides to join a skirmish among the Franks. He sends year-old Thorfinn to negotiate on his behalf. Shortly after landing, Askeladd finally grants Thorfinn his long-awaited duel. The Danes attack London. Askeladd offers Thorfinn another duel if he can take the head of Thorkell the Tall, a great warrior who defected to England. Thorfinn thinks of home after seeing his father in a dream. Later, Askeladd joins him and talks about Ragnarok and the aging state of the world.

Episode 20 25m. The battle has left heartbreaking casualties in its wake.

Thorfinn has changed a lot, but what brought about this transformation was kept under wraps. With every passing episode, fans have been learning more and more about the new Thorfinn. In the episode, Thorfinn and Einar were ordered by Fox and Badger to tag along to a rather secluded location on the farm, which was filled with Guests. Within minutes of their arrival, Fox revealed that Olmar had to kill Thorfinn and Einar to become a man. Einar was furious when he learned of their intentions, but Thorfinn was unfazed. Thorfinn's behavior annoyed Fox so much that he made several small cuts on Thorfinn's body. But none of the threats had any effect on Thorfinn, which infuriated Fox even further, and he chopped off a bit of the slave's ear.

Thorfinn mind might be broken but his body still remembers how to fight. That nightmare scene was amazing. Hell of an episode this episode. My only nitpick from the episode was the storyboard transition of Snake yawning to saying he's going back to sleep in the opening scene; it felt like a weird comedic cut and could've been cleaner. The scene then transitions to outside Pater's home I guess? Remember that Anglo-Saxon village he scouted? He also tells them to put bandages on Thorfinn for their rude behaviour. Pain 26m. As Fox was readying to kill Thorfinn, Snake stepped in and punched his subordinate. Askeladd offers Thorfinn another duel if he can take the head of Thorkell the Tall, a great warrior who defected to England.
