Some of the major set pieces from the game are carried over, but it's more about survival, growth, and hope than killing waves of enemies. The result is a show that amplifies what a phenomenal piece of storytelling the game was in the first place, taking a video game more seriously than any adaptation has to date. Players use firearms and improvised weapons and can use stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated fungus.
