By TK March 7, in Paint. So after years and years of making my own blends of panel liners, I figured I'd try Tamiya's Black Panel liner. Works well enough and is convenient. I let it dry as per the instructions on the bottle and then tried to remove and blend it with the paint using Tamiya X Now my paint job underneath is completely ruined. It went through the gloss coat, the final paint coat and into the primer. I'm sick as a dog over here after all the work I've put into this kit to have the paint get destroyed. I'm already resigned to having repaint the spots that are worn through, but any thoughts on how to remove the dried panel liner that is all over the finish without further damaging the paint? Thanks in advance,. My favourite though for cleaning up after application is naphtha in the form of lighter fluid. In all cases I remove gently as mechanical action can damage nearly every paint coating. You will need to remove all the panel liner and make sure the surface is totally clean and dry before repairs or there might be more pain to come. I think I've managed to wreck one of the finest builds I've ever done! I waited a few minutes for it to dry, then use Humbrol enamel thinner on a cotton bud to clean up. Well, the thinner seems to have eaten into the gloss coat and it looks awful - it started looking ghostly white. What have I done wrong? I had researched this well, watching several videos before giving it a go. Ah man, what a bummer. I've done this as well.

You will also need an enamel thinner such as mineral or white spirits to dilute the excess and properly clean up the areas being worked on. The manufacturer uses extremely fine pigments which are loosely suspended in an enamel carrier. This means you need to, just like with all washes, stir them often and completely. A quick look at the bottom of the jar will let you know. Start at intersecting points, such as where panel lines meet. Then, gently dab the brush on that point and watch how the Panel Line Accent Color flows along those lines. It may be just a little or it might flow for a centimeter. Brown is great for military models as well as highlighting details on bright colors such as Yellow or Orange. Gray is perfect for White or Light Gray parts where Black may be too distinct. Avoid using on movable parts and take care when applying to load-bearing areas. Apply over base coat of lacquer or acrylic paint. Accent Color paints may damage underlying base coat.

I totally agree with the pros on here who say to coat with future and then use the panel wash. My last build was painted with Tamyia lacquer Italian Red and over coated with Testors' flat lacquer. By Reelyator August 6, in Paint. After using Mr. Weathering Liquids for a while for weathering as well as for Panel Lining of Surface Deatils i wanted to try something new on my current ED Build and use Tamiyas Panel Liners as i have heard so many positive comments on its exelent flow behaviour.
