Now into its 11th series, Strictly Come Dancing has become one of the BBC's most important entertainment shows and its most reliable ratings winner, with last year's final watched by a peak audience of 14 million viewers. The programme, which was previously filmed in the BBC's Television Centre in west London, has temporarily moved to a new home in studios in Elstree, north London, after the controversial sale of Television Centre. It will return to Television Centre once the studios there have been refurbished. Strictly' s eleventh series commenced on 7th September , with a launch show, where the celebrities discovered their professional partners for the series, and the main series commencing on th September. This series was Forsyth's last as main presenter. With the move, the show had a newly redesigned set for the series. At the end of August, Slater moved to Strictly's American adaptation, Dancing With the Stars , and was replaced by Anya Garnis , and dancer Kevin Clifton was confirmed to join the show, therefore bringing the total couple count to fifteen, with more female celebrities in the celebrity lineup.

The first episode will pair up the celebrities with their professional dancing partners, with the live shows beginning after a few weeks' rehearsal. Reid told BBC Breakfast she was "really excited" about taking part in the show but was worried about the competition from the other celebrities. She added she was already feeling the strain of training and was "aching in places I've never ached before". Designer Macdonald said he was looking forward to the wearing the costumes.
