Vanessa: Another discovery in suburbia and again close to home is Silverfox Cafe, located in Mortdale. Bianca and I arrived on a Sunday morning and the place was already pumping with people. The cafe is deceptive in size from the front as it is actually quite long and extends to a courtyard out the back. A trendy fit out makes it an appealing location. Silverfox is a family run operation and the team have put some careful consideration into their menu as it extends beyond the average cafe fare. Valentina, one of the owners, greeted us to talk through some of their new winter menu items. Full props to the team for creativity on the names of some of the dishes, I appreciated the novelty factor. Brunch is offered all day and there is a good range of options to suit various tastes and hunger levels. This is why it pays to go outside your comfort zone as it was the dish I loved the most! A substantial bowl of chai-infused maple porridge with baked chai apples topped with coconut granola and raspberries. This is the perfect winter warmer and too me completely by surprise. If you are after a smashed avocado that has been taken to the next level this is it. The smooth goats cheese goes particularly well with the tomatoes and balsamic pearls. A crispy southern fried chicken burger with crunchy slaw, cheese and chipolte served on a toasted brioche bun. This comes with standard thick cut fries or sweet potato fries for an upgrade.

We headed to Mortdale to try out the new kid on the block, the Silver Fox Cafe. In a area with plenty of bakeries, charcoal chicken shops and grocery stores, Mortdale has been missing a quality cafe. This certainly fills that void. As soon as you enter this cafe, it feels fresh and the decor is on trend. Pine wooden pieces, cement floors and a touch of white, the cafe feels modern and we love the Kate Moss artwork in the back room. We meet the delightful owners, and the staff working on the day are equally as nice. We felt welcomed and comfortable instantaneously.

Cottage Grove Ave. In addition to creating a cafe, KOCO will also use the funds to open up the second and third floors of its building. Once renovated, the first floor space will host the Silver Fox Cafe, which will serve breakfast and lunch to the public. The first and third floors will also have rooms for workshops and trainings on subjects like technology, financial literacy, health and wellness. According to Bennett, the project has been in the works since , with KOCO members involved at every juncture. Hardison noted that KOCO will continue running their food pantry out of the cafe, which provides groceries to about families a month.

We know this can be hard when you have delicious and different options to choose from for appetizers, side dishes, and main dishes—but missing out on dessert is definitely not recommended.
