Ok, so my intrepid is stumping me hard on this. It will crank and start perfectly fine. Shut it off, sit for a sec, crank and crank. Key off and back on, starts hard but runs perfect. Then it will start fine a few times. I had this issue before vacation, and coming back I jumped in it and it fired right up no hesitation. I moved it and it started right up, this morning, and all it would do is crank. Beat me to death to swap out the crank sensor. I swapped in one I pulled from the yard. Then nothing. Please help!!!! Let me know your thoughts Sensors that went in, sounds like both are used. Are they known OEM sensors and known good sensors?
I will be ordering a spare crank sensor just to have since they are cheap.
Although it is a generic code, the specific repair steps may vary depending on the year, make, model, and powertrain configuration of the vehicle. When a code P is stored, it indicates that the powertrain control module PCM has detected an abnormality in the relay that supplies it with voltage. In this case, the relay sensor circuit is open, which can be interpreted as disconnected. It is a contact type relay that is activated by a signal wire from the ignition switch. This type of relay typically has a five-wire design.
P is a relatively rare OBD2 trouble code. This includes the Chrysler PT Cruiser. If your PT Cruiser is still running with this code, we strongly recommend against driving with it. If the PCM power relay fails, your vehicle will not run properly. They stand for engine control module and powertrain control module, respectfully. An open circuit is a circuit that has not been completed. With this code, most of the time, the engine will not start or run. Remember, the circuit that senses the voltage at the power relay is open.

If you recall, at first it was just the TCM replacement that did the trick for me for about 3 months. Also, I didn't buy my car from this dealer I am having it serviced at I have no idea how all that dirty got inside. I am very happy to meet you guys and I love working with you! What causes the P code? That is where you may find it is not. Ask a question Answers will be sent directly to your email. At the time my brother didn't know about using only OEM sensors in a Mopar product. When cold the truck would start right up but if he had to stop for a short time, like stopping for gas, it would sometimes either crank and crank with no start or start and run rough for a minute or two and eventually smooth out. All other codes will continue to function. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. The Jeep Recon. When energized, the ASD relay provides power to operate the injectors, ignition coil, generator field, O2 sensor heaters both upstream and downstream , EGR solenoid and PCV heater if equipped and also provides a sense circuit to the PCM for diagnostic purposes.
If this happens to your ride, we get your concern, but the key piece of advice is not to drive around too much with the code and figure out a solution quickly.
After the restart, I had no further issues. If you find a relevant TSB, it may provide helpful diagnostic information. Check it before a good startup. The outputs are from 2 different PCM connectors so maybe check that. Symptoms of a P code may include: Check engine or warning light may illuminate The check engine light may not illuminate even though there are stored codes that would illuminate it There may be no symptoms other than a stored code The vehicle may not start. I once saw a faulty O2 sensor cause issues like you'r description. Now, the plan is to replace the wiring harness. Ran into an issue with my Rubicon TJ and I am completely stumped, really hoping to get this back up and running. This type of relay typically has a five-wire design. Email this Page.
It is a pity, that I can not participate in discussion now. It is not enough information. But this theme me very much interests.
In my opinion you are mistaken. Let's discuss it. Write to me in PM, we will communicate.
