Mystery Lake is one of the primary regions in The Long Dark and the first available for play in Survival mode. A railway crosses the region and is mainly used in the summers supporting the local timber operation and lakeside recreation. The region connects to Forlorn Muskeg on the southern end of the railroad and to Mountain Town in the southwest via a cave near the Trapper's Homestead. The railroad leads into the Ravine at the northeast edge of the map and continues into the Coastal Highway region. The Carter Hydro Dam near the northeast end of the railroad provides a transition to the Pleasant Valley region. The Ravine entrance can be found near Carter Hydro Dam and is commonly used for traveling to and from the Coastal Highway.

A balance between wilderness and man-made shelters, resources, and wildlife. Camp Office is a two-storey cabin located on the western side of Mystery Lake. The Camp Office is a good source of materials and other resources for the player to collect. The Camp Office has two entrances front and back and two floors. The first floor features a work bench and a potbelly stove. The second floor features a wood burning stove, bunk beds, dresser, cupboard and a table. On the other hand, this is a good location to farm a wolf as the office provides both quick shelter and a work bench. A wolf should spawn every in-game days. Carter Hydro Dam is a small hydroelectric dam containing two generation turbines. It exists as two separately loading levels each of which has an exit to the outside and serves as a transition zone between Mystery Lake and Pleasant Valley. The dam is a vast multi-level complex with many lockers, boxes, drawers and other containers to search. It also contains work bench, a fire barrel, and often has excellent loot.

I pretty much know how to get around mystery lake from the camp office to almost anywhere now. But it's also in regions like coastal highway witch I have less experiance in.
