And when I found availability for 5 consecutive nights in Deluxe Suite 5 this bungalow is consistently booked out almost a year in advance — and for good reason! I jumped at the chance and booked it! Our driver met us at arrivals with a sign with our names on making the process of finding a transfer incredibly easy and stress free. This made for numerous landslides, washed out roads and diversions. Our driver was exceptional — not only did he know all the cut through and shortcuts, but he got us to the lake before nightfall, something that would have been impossible had we taken public transport.

Since the hotel only offers four bungalows, it can offer personalized service that puts other hotel staff to shame. Each suite comes fully stocked with fresh fruit, nuts, water, board games, and outdoor bathrooms with a garden view and rain shower. The larger suites provide a king-size bed and a sitting area on the second floor. The petite bungalows include a double bed with a lofted sing bunk directly above it. La Fortuna, a boutique, nature-inspired, private hotel on Lake Atitlan, offers an exclusive, romantic escape. I heard about this unique place from GoAnnieWhere on Instagram. I saw some of her stories from this gorgeous place and I just had to know more. When Hunter and I travel, I love to seek out places that are one-of-a-kind— I mean, take a look at my Secret Garden Cotopaxi Review from our time in Ecuador, or my Bocas del Toro, Panama article — as evidence that we love to find unique places that are an experience in themselves. La Fortuna is growing in name and reputation, especially because of their instagram presence! Lake Atitlan is a gorgeous and magical place— with stunning volcano views, warm cobalt water, and greenery all around! La Fortuna is not attached to any town around the lake, making it uniquely peaceful and isolated. It is near to Panajachel, but it is in its own cove. Instead, you are in a private cove, with unobstructed well, besides the clouds volcano views, and no noise or restaurants besides the one on site. Still, it is possible to explore the rest of the lake from La Fortuna by heading down to the private dock to wave down a lancha.

One thing to mention here is that if a particular suite is not available for all of your available dates, make sure to contact the front desk as sometimes you might be able to stay in another suite and just switch rooms during your stay, which would actually make for a very notable stay as you would get to experience two different suites.
