Fire Emblem: Three Houses created some of the series ' most instantly-popular heroes, to the point that they swept the mobile game 's popularity contest in Much of the criticism directed at Rhea stems from Edelgard , the leader of the game's Black Eagles house. Edelgard claims that Reha exploits the faithful to control the world. However, examining the game's history reveals that Rhea is a far more complex and tragic figure than most of the characters in the game or those who have played it fully realize. These countries all have mixed relationships with Rhea's Church of Seiros.

Nemesis —the "King of Liberation", who had stolen Sothis's remains and used them to acquire the Crest of Flames and forge the Sword of the Creator —invaded Zanado with an army to harvest the bodies of goddess's children for power; save Seiros, all of the Children of the Goddess at Zanado were killed. Seeking revenge, she founded the Church of Seiros , [2] and helped Wilhelm Paul Hresvelg establish the Adrestian Empire ; Seiros recruited fellow Children of the Goddess Cethleann , Cichol , Indech , and Macuil to form the Four Saints, and they gifted their blood to Wilhelm's allies—whose families would become the Adrestian nobility—amassing enough soldiers to battle Nemesis. Within the next 7 years, she ensured the 10 Elites were hunted down, their Heroes' Relics were seized, and their clans were assimilated into the Empire. Over the course of the next millennium, Seiros attempted to bring Sothis back to life. During Garreg Mach's construction, she recruited the Four Apostles, mythical individuals bearing four rare Crests. In Imperial year , Rhea had the Four Apostles pour their blood into the Chalice of Beginnings in an undisclosed location along with Sothis's remains, hoping the experiment would resurrect her. After recovering the Sword of the Creator, Seiros faked her death, assumed the alias of "Rhea" and had her supposed corpse—in reality, the Sword of the Creator but without Sothis's Crest stone—buried and sealed in the Holy Mausoleum. Her twelfth failed vessel, Sitri , fell in love with the captain of the Knights of Seiros , Jeralt —whom Rhea had previously saved through a blood transfusion that gave him her Crest [23] [24] —and had a child named Byleth. However, the child was stillborn, and Rhea, at Sitri's request, transferred Sothis's Crest Stone to Byleth and saved them at the cost of Sitri's life.
Rhea reunites with female Byleth after being rescued from Adrestia. Ultimate as a background character at Garreg Mach Monastery.
She is the archbishop and supreme leader of the Church of Seiros. She possesses a Major Crest of Seiros. She was previously Jeralt's superior when he was Captain of the Knights of Seiros until he left her employ in Wyvern Moon She serves as a key figure for the Officers Academy as well, assigning missions to the three houses each month. Rhea is actually a Nabatean , one of the original children of the progenitor god Sothis. She is also Seiros herself, the saint who founded the Church of Seiros , defeated Nemesis , and helped found the Adrestian Empire.
As an avid Fire Emblem fan whose played through Three Houses multiple times, the character who intrigues me most is the cryptic Rhea — known to most as the benevolent Archbishop, but secretly harboring dark secrets and hidden motivations. First to understand Rhea, one must know her origin story as Seiros , born as one of the Nabatean dragonkin who could assume human form. She lived happily for centuries in Zanado the Red Canyon alongside her mother Sothis — an immensely powerful progenitor goddess figure to the Nabateans. As one of the few survivors of this horrific genocide, Rhea was consumed with grief over losing her family and entire culture virtually overnight. It also birthed a desperate ambition — she would one day bring her mother Sothis back to life again while punishing those responsible for Zanado. But privately she sought vengeance and attempted unsuccessfully to revive Sothis through ritual. Leveraging mystical awe around her and fabricated history about receiving revelation from the Goddess, Rhea formally established the Church of Seiros for both worship and consolidating control.

She gets kicked out of her home and usually dies before taking it back. The Crest system is Fire Emblem 's way of gamifying the divine right of kings, the idea that monarchs are appointed by a god to rule, and it is integral to the plot of Three Houses. As a Blue Dragon, Seiros stands out with her solid mixed bulk, scoring 77 physical and 80 magical. Rhea then flees to the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and builds her forces in alliance with Dimitri. For example, the real world has neither magical dragon-gods nor immortal popes, yet we still developed systems of hereditary aristocracy in which many aristocrats were scum. There's one exception, though—those who actively oppose the Church. Rhea can only form a support conversation with Byleth. Sword of Seiros Seiros Shield. Rhea additionally appears as an Ace neutral-type spirit using her artwork from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Armed with the relic, Nemesis returned to Zanado to massacre the Nabateans living there to make Heroes' Relics and Crests from their bodies. In Silver Snow, Rhea reveals the truth about Byleth and apologizes to them, before her powers turn her berserk and transforms into the Immaculate One. The additional effect of her breath depends on who initiates.
She is the archbishop and supreme leader of the Church of Seiros.
As Rhea had shared her blood with a man named Jeralt Reus Eisner to save his life, she also used the Crest of Flames to revive a newly born child named Byleth Eisner , implanting its Crest Stone in their heart when they were a baby. Adrestia has all but cut political ties to it and the others, while nominally loyal, are not necessarily devout. Despite being such an important character to the main plot, Rhea is unfortunately not a playable character on any of the routes. On the Crimson Flower route, where Byleth defects to the Empire, their betrayal causes Rhea to suffer a total psychotic breakdown. To die in torment upon my sword, as the very lifeblood you have forsaken spills onto the earth! It was a totally false accusation, of course. She'd make a fine ally for the Order of Heroes! In Silver Snow, Rhea reveals the truth about Byleth and apologizes to them, before her powers turn her berserk and transforms into the Immaculate One. She takes them to the Holy Tomb beneath the monastery in the hopes of having them commune with Sothis, but Edelgard attacks the tomb with her soldiers. On the Azure Moon route, she passes the title of Archbishop on to Byleth and peacefully retires to Zanado. Ironically, all Rhea's death does is ensure that humanity is controlled by another false history. Losing his faith in Rhea after believing his wife, Sitri, died of something else, Jeralt faked his and Byleth's deaths and left the Knights of Seiros with his child, though he was later forced to return many years later after being discovered by Dimitri , Edelgard , Claude and Alois.
