Fast X 's mixed reviews give it a Rotten score in Rotten Tomatoes, but how does it compare to the rest of the franchise?
Initially starting as a series focused on street racing, the Fast and Furious franchise hasn't shied away from exploring and experimenting with the genre, even taking the fast family into space. The recent Fast X is said to conclude the series with a 3-part movie. Part 1 saw the family reunite with almost every cast member from throughout the series, including characters that many believed were dead. While it provided a nostalgic ride, Fast X continued to repeat the same mistakes as the previous five entries which is evident by its low low Rotten Tomato score. Despite Fast X being the last mainline movie, it is said to be a three-part movie with more spin-offs planned for the future and it appears the franchise is here to stay for a while. Going forward, Fast and Furious may need to take an entirely different approach if the series wants to reclaim its glory, and winning back the trust of the audience seems like a difficult task at this point. Fast X follows Dom as he confronts the ghosts of his past once again.

New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. There are other returning enemies and family members, too, and some of the characters have been both. Charlize Theron is back as Cipher, the cyberterrorist who was the main villain in The Fate of the Furious and a behind-the-scenes foe in Fast 9. Jason Statham will appear again as Deckard Shaw, another one-time villain who now has some semblance of an alliance with the Dom. Fast X adds lots of new characters, too. Nobody Kurt Russell was in a plane crash in the previous film. A federal agent-turned-ally to Dom and Co. However, he dropped out of the project, reportedly due to disagreements with Diesel.

It sent Tyrese and Ludacris to space in a Pontiac. Or at least, those of us who were willing to suspend enough of our disbelief to go along for the wild ride. It was a watershed moment of cartoon logic worming its way into a formerly self-serious series, which paired best with a can of Axe body spray and a copy of Need for Speed Underground 2 on the PS2. And you know what? The movies that followed were mostly the better for it. His revenge motivation may be clear, and Fast X hammers his Anti-Dom foil status home at every turn, but the ways in which Dante brings that vengeance to bear on the Fast Family are as erratic as Dante himself. He wants to make Dom suffer by hurting his family, but routinely ignores opportunities to twist that knife in ways that read as less patiently sadistic and more just… ineffective.
