Original Poster. Search My Stuff What's New 3 12 24 OP Posts Only. Its still overheating almost immediately and no hot air from the heater. These engines seem to have known over heating issues and i suspect that the rad is partly at fault as it was weeping from the coolant low sensor at the bottom of the rad, but that doesnt explain the rapid overheating, the lack of warm air from the heater and the fact that the top hose doesnt seem to be full. I think it could be a thermostat or water pump issue.

Water pump on its last legs? Measure the coolant temperature directly with a known good thermometer or gauge. You may have boiled the fluid in a spot or two when it got hot and now you have air in the system. M series. Be carefull, keep hands and fingers away from the fan while performing this test! The fan clutch is just what the name says, it is a mechanism that will clutch the fan on and off depending on the need for more or less cooling air to flow thru the radiator.
