Makoto Naegi gets a super lucky break and enters the highly prestigious school, Hope's Peak High School.
It is not an anime adaptation of any game, but a completely original new story supervised by the series creator, Kazutaka Kodaka. The anime is intended to be the conclusion of the Hope's Peak Series within the Danganronpa franchise, as Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony focuses on a new environment and new characters. Future Arc , the first chapter, is a sequel to " Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair ". Despair Arc , the second chapter, is a prequel to the entire series. It tells the backstory of the Remnants of Despair and explains how they got corrupted.

Danganronpa has become one of the most popular anime gaming franchises today after kicking off in with Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. It has become so big that the franchise now is not just known to gamers but to anime fans as well. This is because the game has been expanded into an anime that expands the franchise and the storylines. Every few years a new entry is made into the franchise, be it a game or an animation, and there appears to be no sign of slowing down following the arrival of the RPG Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp. Because of this, there are two ways to take in everything Dangaronpa has to offer, with or without video games. This kicks off with the Future Arc that follows Makoto Naegi and others with their involvement in the Future Foundation killing game. This is the first entry into the two-part series that concludes with a further one-episode special. Kicking off straight after, the Despair Arc puts the spotlight on Hajime Hinata and the experiments he held on other humans.
