WITH so many of us still stuck at home with little to do, many people across the nation b&q scaffolding boards turned to DIY projects to keep themselves entertained. Instagram user Abbie, from Sheffield, showed off her incredible DIY skills in a video recently uploaded to her account. She starts by placing four scaffolding boards on the floor and makes sure they are lined up evenly.

If you're a long term reader of this blog you'll know that my husband and I have a bit of a thing for upcycling things for our house project, especially scaffold boards. We wanted as bigger table as we could fit for big Christmas family gatherings but also as a place to work, a place to eat, a place to gather around. Again, we've used scaffold boards but with a slightly different look. A bit less rough around the edges this time, more French vintage in feel than industrial. It had good foundations, decent-sized rooms upstairs, a reasonable footprint downstairs and a garden, too. We envisaged an open-plan space that looked onto the garden. So they decided to make the worktops themselves. My husband cut the boards to size, then sanded and varnished them. We used the same blue hue as the feature wall on the cabinet doors, and I made all of the handles using leather belts.

Just wondering if you used heat treated scaffold boards, or whether they were 'green'? Plus how this woman transformed her tired-looking patio to chic outdoor space using nothing but a tin of paint and a stencil. Ripping out kitchen cupboards which harbour piles of out of date tins and haphazardly stacked cups safely behind closed doors was always a bit of a gamble. Our kitchen is quite dark and we felt that the large over-the-counter cupboards were bulky and blocking out light. We decided that it may be a good idea to rip out 3 of the cupboards and replace them with two rows of exposed shelving. We never wanted modern shelving and all of the options we found were either really expensive or too modern. Once we ripped out the cupboards we were left with unsightly walls and as we already had wooden cladding elsewhere in the kitchen we added this as a back drop. We painted it in a matte, white wood paint to match the other cladding.
