This comic is a parody of the movie The Social Network , a movie about the founding of the popular social network site Facebook. Here, scenes from the movie are reimagined to feature Zombo. The animation consists of a circle of quickly pulsating dots and a friendly deep male voice repeatedly welcoming the visitor to "Zombocom" and explaining that there was no limit to what could be done at the site, or rather, no limit except yourself. The message, a parody of how sites of the time used a flash introduction while the rest of the site loaded, repeats while, ironically, there is absolutely nothing that can be done at the site until the message completes, at which point a link saying "Sign up for our newZletter" appears, linking to a page saying that the selected option is not available yet. If the link is not clicked, the Flash player will reset. Thus, you can still do nothing on the site. The humor of the parody comes in substituting Facebook, a site that, at the time this comic was made, was a useful and popular website; for Zombo.

It was originally a faculty and student joke from the George Washington University Center for Professional Development. The site parodies Flash introductory web pages that play while the rest of a site's content loads. Zombo took the concept to a humorous extreme, consisting of one long introductory page that leads to an invitation to sign up for a newsletter. The website also contains an audio clip, in which a man welcomes the visitor to "Zombocom". After some time, the option to sign up for a "newZletter" appears. This message is conveyed as a humorously written thank you in the same register form of "newZletter," stating "ThankZ for your patience. Unlike the Flash version, the audio clip will loop to the start when it ends, removing the "newZletter" message. The HTML markup comment was also removed. Additionally, the discs in the center actually spin rather than changing color. Video game producer Bill Roper [2] and artist Dave Rowntree have each listed Zombo as their favorite website; Rowntree explains, "I think [zombo.

Zombo is a satire website that was created in as a parody of the flash-based intro animation that became widespread during the early days of flash animation in web design. It took this concept to the extreme, playing a small animation along with a repeating tune welcoming the visitor to zombo. After some time, an option to purchase T-shirts or sign up for a newsletter would appear, and if neither were clicked, the loop would resume indefinitely. These services have since been discontinued. The website steadily gained notoriety and was shared throughout emails and forums all throughout the Internet. The site divided viewers at the time, with some praising the humor and others finding it useless.
You may want to go use it now before you continue reading this page. It's a spoof of tacky Flash preloaders during the early age of the internet though the site has since been updated to HTML5. The website offers nothing except its promise that you can do anything at Zombo. Since, as the website states, the infinite is possible at Zombo. See also Obmoz.
