Despite being born in Seoul, Yugyeom has spent a little of his childhood in Saudi Arabia due to his father's job. The only song that sounds similar to GOT7's music is 1 Minute which features autotune and electropop. As the main dancer of GOT7, Yugyeom has been recognised for his exceptional dance skills rather than his singing. Trust Me surprises listeners with his soothing and melodious vocals. Overall, the album is meticulously crafted, with every track showcasing beautiful melodies and catchy hooks -- a feat not easily achieved. Shine tells a romantic story of a couple who find light in the presence of their loved ones. The song opens with energetic drums which capture the excitement of the couple when they meet.

He is the maknae of the boy group GOT7 and one half of the duo Jus2. In , he became a contestant on Mnet's dance survival contest Hit the Stage. He finished the show in first place. On March 5, he debuted as one half of the duo Jus2 , along with his fellow leader JB , with the mini album Focus. In , he appeared in the singing competition show King of Mask Singer as the masked singer 'Raspberry Wine' and showcased his sweet and clean voice as he sang J. Park 's "I Have a Girl".
