Xenoverse 2 mentors

As with the original Xenoverse game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 allows players to seek out Mentors to teach their character different skills that they can only obtain by completing certain tasks. However, the Mentor system for Xenoverse 2 was tweaked in the sequel making it easier to get more tasks from mentors and to unlock them. This Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Mentors Guide will explain how players can unlock new mentors and what they need to do to get all the lessons and skills from each mentor with a handy list of mentors and skills at the end of the guide. Mentors in Xenoverse 2 appear in Conton City as you progress through the story. The story goes through the different arcs of Dragon Ball Z and a lot of those characters show up in the overworld once you complete certain parts of each arc. The game will ping you when a new mentor or new mentor mission appears on the map and all you have to do is find them and speak to them. Each mentor will first fight you one-on-one in an introductory mission and go from there. Each completed lesson unlocks the next with each lesson having you use a new skill to defeat your mentor. Mentors can also be your instructors like in the first Xenoverse game. They will grade your progress after every battle and will join you sometimes in Parallel Quests. You can also talk to them in Conton City and they may give you a Battle Item. Some mentors and lessons can only be unlocked once your character reaches a certain level in the Time Patrol. A bar can be seen in the bottom part of the screen when you talk to a mentor. The Patrol Academy is where you need to go to take the advancement exam.

A Mentor is a special NPC that offers 4 missions, rewarding the player with unique abilities or skills upon completion of each mission. On the Master Info page, each mentor has an icon, 4 bubbles to the left of the icon, and an empty gauge to the right of the icon. Each ability or skill acquired is specific to that Mentor; an example being Special Beam Cannon, Piccolo's signature move, only obtainable from Piccolo when chosen as a mentor and after completing all of his training missions. After learning any signature move, the player has a chance of seeing a "Z" placed prominently upon their screen while using the move which incurs an additional damage bonus, but only if the move's master is the player's current active mentor. At the end of any PQ, the player will find their active mentor in front of the Leaderboard hub in the middle of Toki-Toki. Other mentors appear at random.

Each mentor offers 4 training missions that reward the player with unique skills upon completion. These missions are available regardless of whether or not the mentor is the player's current instructor. A player can choose a specific instructor to be their mentor by speaking to them and choosing "Be my instructor". After doing so, the mentor will act as a training partner during Challenge Quests, make commentary on the Results screen, and occasionally appear in Parallel Quests to aid the player if their health gets low. Mentors also play a significant role in the Extra Story mode from the Extra Pack 2 DLC , with quests and cutscenes differing depending on which mentor the player currently has instructing them. A player can build their relationship with their mentor to unlock new conversations, as well as receive gifts, nicknames, and marks. Nicknames and marks are equippable customization features for your CaC 's Play Data, which can be accessed from the Lobby Menu. Friendship can be increased by going on quests with mentors while they are your instructor , talking to them when returning to Conton City, and wearing certain costumes. You can check your level of Friendship with instructors by selecting Play Data from the Lobby Menu and then choosing Instructor Information. The more the Partner Gauge fills, the more powerful the Dual Attack with that instructor will be.
