Sony finally announced its much-rumoured console revisions last night in the form of new Disc and Digital PS5 models launching this November , which made us think, what about a similar option for Xbox users? Microsoft has its very own digital console with Xbox Series S, but as of yet, you cannot add any sort of disc drive to the console - a feature that Sony is bringing to the table in Yep, if you haven't seen, these new PS5 models allow for a detachable disc drive - meaning digital edition users can upgrade their console to incorporate physical media usage. It's a neat feature for those who want to jump in at a lower cost and then eventually upgrade to a full-bells-and-whistles system after the fact, and it's something that'd be very welcome for Xbox. Sure, Xbox Series X and S are two entirely different consoles with different internal components and capabilities, but we still think there's room for allowing Series S users to attach a disc drive. Microsoft's aim may well be to get Series S owners using Game Pass primarily, but a drive add-on would prove a consumer friendly option - and it'd be great for Xbox backwards compatibility too.
