I need to replace the drivetrain belt on my X and it looks like there is a lot more to that job than a quick glance at the parts book looks like. I've had the belt for a bit now but I finally have to get that old belt out of there and the new one in. I bought the machine used last year so I don't have the original manuals. I didn't have to loosen the clutch at all. But snaking that belt through there was a PITA. Thanks for the reply, would have been nice if I could have read it before hand but I guess that would have taken all of the fun out of it.

So I took the old belt off the machine put the new one on Trans side first and snake it it up to the motor pulley but can't get it to slip over the PTO clutch how in the world did you get this belt over the PTO Clutch without removing the clutch. The rest were just the tension spring and routing it over all of the pulleys. My JD X is one of the first that came off the line. That includes equivalent Deere models and models without the System. I'm finding shoe laces some time are easier to use than a screw driver to release the tension spring and when putting it back on some times it is also easier to remove the bolt from the tension spring put the spring through the arm first i then stretching the spring and bolting the Bolt up again.
