A messy storm system bringing rain, snow and strong winds is moving through New Hampshire to start the weekend. A winter storm warning is in effect Saturday for northern and western areas of the state. A winter weather advisory, meanwhile, has been posted for areas from the Lakes Region back through Cheshire County. The precipitation started as rain Saturday morning in many spots with milder air in place. The rain has been switching to snow from north to southeast during the day. Northern areas will mostly see snow and will therefore see the highest totals as colder air arrives there first. The North Country will likely pick up inches of snow. After initial rain, lesser amounts of snow are expected farther south and east across New Hampshire.
