Why is Tide Original more than double the price for the same amount? While it carries the Tide name, it is not the same formula as original Tide and does not contain the needed ingredients to remove tough stains and odor. Should be an obvious answer - original has more detergent and cleaning ingredients inside to give a better, more thorough clean. It contains much less cleaning power, and tries to mask it with a strong scent to fake a good clean. IMO, adequate for use on lightly soiled clothes, but you'll want to use something with a more powerful punch for anything nice or soiled. Original Tide has enzymes in it which are more expensive cleaning agents. Simply Clean is just a straight detergent with no enzymes. To make it equivalent to Original Tide you would have to use an enzymatic cleaner like OxyClean along with it.

Why is it changed? I have very sensitive. I will switch to this brand if the price is comparable or less than what we currently use. I will purchase a bigger bottle. Tide free and Sensitive really works. It doesn't have a perfume scent at all but I did notice a chemical smell.
