Some diehard Warcraft fans have remade the entirety of the Horde campaign from Warcraft 2 in Warcraft 3: Reforged. Featuring new mechanics, art, and even voice acting, this mission campaign is available for Warcraft 3: Reforged players at no additional cost. LoreCraft Designs is a group of Warcraft fans who took it upon themselves to recreate all of Warcraft 2 within the Warcraft 3 engine. Consisting of a team of seven designers and dozens of other contributors, LoreCraft had a Herculean task ahead of them, considering the vast differences between Warcraft 2 and 3 , as well as the lore discrepancies that have emerged over the near-three decades the franchise has existed. This free Warcraft 3: Reforged map set includes 17 missions that tell the story of the Horde campaign from Warcraft 2 , but tweaked with modern lore elements from World of Warcraft and background novels. The free campaign includes brand-new cinematics, original voice acting, remastered soundtracks, and new game mechanics, allowing players to relive Warcraft 2 on a more modernized engine.

It is no secret that the launch of Warcraft 3 Reforged was less than stellar. The game paled in comparison to the original, it was marred with bugs on launch, and was lacking in numerous areas. It was not the grand return of Warcraft 3 that fans were hoping for, and it was made worse by the fact that it replaced the original game. While Blizzard has been slowly fixing many of its bugs, Warcraft 3 Reforged is still far from the game players wanted, but maybe a relaunch could help. Warcraft 3 Reforged was very controversial at launch and barely anyone talks about it three years later. The fan base has moved on, and the studio has released a plethora of other exciting games since. However, Warcraft 3 is still a fantastic game, and a remastered version could help shine a light on this classic RTS once more. Warcraft 3 Reforged may have failed to deliver on that promise, but that does not mean it should be forgotten. Instead, Blizzard should do all it can to reinvent the title, and following StarCraft Remastered 's model may be exactly how it does that. Everything else about the game felt almost exactly like how it was when it first launched in It retained all the charm and polish of the iconic RTS while also being boosted by modern hardware. It was almost everything that fans were hoping for, and it started Blizzard's remastered adventures on a strong note. This came out of nowhere but was a welcome addition to the game.
