Volantis, volantis got, often called Old Volantis or the First Daughter of Valyria, is the oldest, proudest, and southernmost of the nine Free Cities. Volantis used to be the mightiest of the Free Cities, but it has been overtaken by Braavos, which also rivals Volantis for being the greatest, richest, and most powerful Free City.
