BBC star Vernon Kay pushed his weary legs to the limit as he completed the third day of his Ultra ultramarathon challenge - and got a hero's welcome as he entered Manchester. The BBC Radio 2 presenter has now walked and run more than miles over the past four days and, this morning, Radio 2 host Zoe Ball broadcasted live from the Toughsheet Stadium to welcome him home.

In total, he travelled over miles. The challenge started in Victoria Park in Leicester, and ended in the his hometown of Bolton where he was given a hero's welcome. Speaking to Alex Scott during Children In Need, Vernon was left "speechless" after being told the new total raised for charity. Vernon's mum said: "Give my love to all those people around you that are keeping you standing up Get some rest. Keep it up. The show will air tomorrow, Friday November 17, and will star some of Britain's biggest names.

His third day was the hardest - having to tackle Kinder Scout in the Peak District before heading down into Stockport and then on to his final pit stop of the day at Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground where he was greeted by a huge crowd of supporters. On Friday, he left Old Trafford just before 7am to take the final leg of his journey to his home town of Bolton. He will weave through Salford before heading north west through Linnyshaw, Little Hulton and the edges of Bolton via Middlebrook. The finish line after miles is at the Toughsheet Stadium home of Bolton Wanderers where Zoe Ball will be broadcasting live.
