It houses three general practice surgeries, two dental surgeries and other consultation rooms for child care and mental health. The building was constructed on an existing flood plain which involved significant external works to be carried out to allow for any future potential flooding by creating swales surrounding the building. The works also involved the reconfiguration of the main junction to the Vale of Leven hospital, ambulance centre and main road into Alexandria town centre. The design of the new building was carried out via the user engagement process and was completed prior to works starting on site. The end-user sessions were enhanced by the provision of full scale mock-ups. The two storey building consisted of a main atrium area which had 6 fingers housing the various practices and a Facilities Management wing. The construction was of steel frame construction, with external finishes including render, timber cladding, curtain walling and zinc cladding. The roof was a mixture of single ply roofing and standing seam roofing.

The Deluxe Double Rooms with Ensuite are equipped with wall-mounted flat-screen televisions, padded armchairs, over bed tables, lockable bedside drawers, room lamps, built-in storage and individual room-controlled reverse cycle air conditioning. The staff at The Vales value each resident's independence and strive to accommodate personal requests. Residents have opportunities to take part in individual and group social activities such as bingo, craft, cooking, lawn bowls, cards, happy hour and bus trips. The onsite chef provides home-style menu choices prepared to the individual requirements of residents. Medical reviews and management of pharmaceuticals are provided on-site.
