The selected individual will lead a diverse group unc anesthesiology faculty and staff members and will oversee all aspects of the Department, including clinical practice, education, research, and fiscal management consistent with the strategic planning of the UNC School of Medicine, UNC Hospitals and UNC Health, unc anesthesiology.

UNC Anesthesiology is committed to providing the best possible care for our patients. Our team includes more than individuals, including faculty, residents, fellows, CRNAs, anesthesia techs, nurse practitioners, researchers, and support staff. We provide a full spectrum of expert anesthesia care to over 60, patients of all ages each year—outpatient surgery, invasive inpatient procedures, elective operations, and emergencies. We provide pre-operative care, care after surgery in the intensive care unit, and acute and chronic pain management. In addition to providing outstanding clinical care, the Department is a national leader in education and research, striving to improve standards of care. Along with teaching our residents and medical students the specialty of anesthesiology, through educational outreach programs, we educate the medical community on the highest standards of anesthetic care. Your gift will support educational expenses for our residents and fellows, including visiting professors, high-fidelity simulation training, meeting support, academic enrichment programs, and journal clubs.

The mission of our residency is to train outstanding consultant anesthesiologists by providing a diverse, rigorous clinical experience combined with a carefully planned didactic curriculum. Our residents gain exposure to a wide array of patient populations and cases, including Level 1 trauma and solid organ transplants.
