Umd biology 4 year plan
Interdisciplinary programs in Biochemistry, Umd biology 4 year plan Science, Environmental Studies and Microbiology are available for specialized concentrations. These all have quite similar prerequisite programs and, with a carefully chosen program, it is relatively easy to transfer from one to another. Students who may be interested in one of these programs are strongly urged to see the appropriate program adviser as soon as possible. Biological Sciences Discipline Chair: Dr.
The biological science degree allows students to tailor their program of study to fit the needs of most, if not all, colleges and universities offering a degree in biology or the biological sciences. Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution prior to attending medical, dental, veterinary, physical therapy, podiatry, or chiropractic school will find all or most of the prerequisite courses needed for admission to these professional schools. Students planning to transfer to pharmacy, medical technology, or optometry school programs that accept students after two years of undergraduate education will find all the courses needed for admission into these programs. Students are strongly advised to work closely with a biology or chemistry faculty member or an academic transfer counselor in order to select courses that will prevent or minimize the loss of credits upon transfer. The program advising guide outlines the degree requirements and is meant to supplement the advising process. MC has a long history of successfully preparing students for transfer to four-year institutions. Biological science majors are strongly advised to work closely with a biology or chemistry faculty member or an academic transfer counselor in order to select courses that will prevent or minimize the loss of credits upon transfer.

The Bioengineering curriculum is designed to emphasize strong fundamentals in both engineering and biology, to include experiential learning in the engineering practices, and to align with specific careers in bioengineering sub-fields. In the first two years, students take engineering foundation courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and math. In the third and fourth years, the focus shifts to the areas of career-specific areas, including biotechnology, biomechanics, biomaterials, and biomedical instrumentation. Skip to main content. Minimum requirements for graduation are semester hours. Some majors require more than credits. In addition to the university's general education requirements and the specific requirements for each program, the College of Education requires that all teacher education majors complete a Foundations of Education course and, depending upon the teacher education major, six to twelve semester hours of reading course requirements. Unless otherwise stated a grade of 'C-' or better is required in all pre-professional and professional course work required for the major. A grade of "S" is required in the student teaching internship. Students in the pre-professional Education majors must apply to their respective professional teacher education programs.
