Two years after it was originally booked we finally took off on our 12 day tour of Sri Lanka, followed by 5 days in the Maldives. Our holiday was booked through Luxtripper so they organised the best flights to suit our dates and itinerary. I was expecting good things, as friends who have travelled with SriLankan Airlines told us they put the likes of British Airways to shame. We have four SriLankan Airlines flights on this holiday. We checked in online before we left home, so only needed to drop off our luggage — but we had to join the masses of people waiting to do the same. When we finally reached the front and our bags were tagged and sent on their way, we were given new boarding passes so what was the point of checking in at home? The check-in area was rather chaotic with a lack of explanation or guidance as to what queue we should be joining and everyone — except us — seemed to have a LOT of suitcases to check in!
