Trekkertent
The Trekkertent Stealth 1 in the snow and high trekkertent on its first outing. The reading on my watch hanging trekkertent a temporary ridge line in the roof — see below was 2 degrees before I opened the inner and outer door, trekkertent. The temperature outside, recorded five minutes later, was minus 4.
By the mid-point the height of the inner has reduced to 75cm before tapering down to 55cm at the very end. The outer shares the same wind shedding tapered shape as the inner but is obviously bigger. If you struggle with flat tarps then you should love this, 6 pegs, 2 poles and around a minute of your time should see it morph from stuff sack to evenings home. All pegging points feature line-locs which besides helping with initial pitching also allow you to re-tension the outer from the inside should the need arise. The front pole fits into a heavily reinforced grommet on the inside and the tip of rear pole resides in a metal ring suspended from webbing on the outside … it really is idiot proof.

OK, not bijou. In really shocking weather I have spent entire days inside it without going crazy. But — if you are larger-boned and want more space Marc Mr Trekkertent has thought of you and will cheerfully sell you a Stealth 1. Talking of Marc a seriously nice guy reminds me that he and his Scottish tent pixies make these shelters to order. Obviously the first thing people ask about any ultralight shelter is how much it weighs. I got into a big argument with a bloke on Facebook who berated me for quoting the weight without poles. You can pitch a Stealth with six pegs and six of my titanium pegs weigh about 80g. I normally use ten pegs in an exposed position and carry a couple of varied options, about g of pegs in all so complete shelter with pegs, about g. Any old poles will do. This is what you might call a catenary tent with no internal supporting framework. The flysheet pitches first and needs to be tightly stretched between two supports of whatever kind. Normally these are your two trekking poles. The front can be tensioned with an internal guy which means you only need one peg for both vestibule and guy. However you get a much better, tighter pitch with an external front guyline on an extra peg or two — you need to pull it really tight for best results.
Off for a beer now to try and drown my tent temptation urge!

Best of all, though, there was no condensation.

In alone, between Lockdowns, I have spent eight nights out in it. I ordered a green Stealth 2 with 40D. Email Required Name Required Website. The midge-proof mesh inner stretches four ways and so is completely taut in every direction when hung inside the fly. The leather pad also has a small metal ring in which the tip of your pole engages and this makes pitching more manageable. Talking of Marc a seriously nice guy reminds me that he and his Scottish tent pixies make these shelters to order. I begin to think that the weight penalty of my Hilleberg Enan is so modest that I should not seek anything lighter. As you can see I have the main pole slightly tilted to make getting in easier. Any old poles will do. Order it with a half mesh half solid inner. This is the mesh inner. It's also a single skin shelter with mesh inserts and a bathtub. The rear rings, yes, there are two, allow for different thicknesses of pole points.
