The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players have learned that the game's Ultrahand can be used to build anything. Given that Ultrahand can be used to construct just about anything, it shouldn't come as a surprise that players quickly attached some fans or ball-shaped bombs to a large log to craft a very crude phallus. Some totk twitter even showed off the flaming variant of the build, complete with a placement on large stone or wooden monuments shaped like people, totk twitter.

The Legend of Zelda and its protagonist, Link , reached new heights this year — literally. The hero soared through the skies and plunged into the deepest depths of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Fans constructed mega bridges and skateboards and, if they were skilled enough, even Godzilla-like kaijus. Outside the world of the game, fans dove into Hyrule and its history; they theorized about what would happen and lamented lost romance. If Breath of the Wild set a new gold standard for open-world exploration in games, Tears of the Kingdom proved all over again that the team could find new ways to delight players. For these, and countless other reasons, Polygon named Tears of the Kingdom our top game of The transcript has been edited and condensed for clarity. It was released for the Nintendo Switch on May 12, After an unknown period of time after the events of Breath of the Wild , Link and Zelda are exploring a secret passage hidden beneath Hyrule Castle. Although King Rhoam had warned Zelda in the past that not even the royal family was to go there, she believes that what lies beneath is connected to the strange phenomenon spreading throughout Hyrule known as " Gloom ". As they travel, they find ancient ruins that Zelda identifies as being of Zonai origin. They eventually find a mural depicting a great war against the being called "The Demon King" , the stories of which had been passed down by the royal family. Another mural shows the Zonai descending which causes Zelda to realize that the "gods" that descended from the heavens to found the royal family must have been the Zonai. In the deepest chamber , Link and Zelda find a mummified Ganondorf emanating Gloom bound by a disembodied arm.
