If you are a true fan, you should probably skip this thread - it will make you mad or sad I am looking for a as a late Christmas gift to myself. No plans of making it "the only gun I shoot" - more just something different. I want something inexpensive. It seems to have come down to either Tisas or RIA - both are down low enough in cost to be options. I know RIA stands behind their stuff and that some members here bow a little when they say "Rock Island Armory" , but the Tisas is cheaper, and looks to be well made. The "Rocky Island Picture Show" thread did not paint RIA in the best light read a bit like a Mosin restoration , but he did end with "it's a good shooter". I'm OK with light tinkering, but if I have to replace half the parts on a gun to make it function, that's a no-go. Please don't post "get a Colt, your going to get one anyway" - I won't.

The Tisas gets high marks for being all forged while the Rock Island is cast. Conversely , the Rock Islands get high marks for fit and reliability praised for tolerances held even by gunsmiths and a perfect on a recent You Tube test score. If you need any work , the Rock Island facility in Nevada is supposed offer excellent service.
