World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is finally here, and it brings with it a whole new set of zones filled with brand-new stories for players to explore. This expansion is heavily focused on the return of the Dragonflights after they stepped into the shadows at the end of Cataclysm , and each zone of the Dragon Isles is seeping with brand-new lore for these powerful factions. There is a lot of new information being thrown at the player throughout the leveling process, and it seems to be changing World of Warcraft forever. The first zone that World of Warcraft players will experience on the Dragon Isles is the Waking Shores, and it features a pretty interesting story that follows the remains of the Black Dragonflight and the powerful Red Dragonflight. Players must work alongside these flights to combat their ancient enemies and reclaim their ancestral homelands to ensure their future. The story sees the player interact with all sorts of prominent lore characters like Alexstrasza and Wrathion, and it helps set the stage for what is to come in this turbulent expansion.

The zone storyline sees Alexstrasza summoning the Alliance and Horde to aid the red flight against the native Djaradin , while Wrathion seeks to reclaim the Obsidian Citadel of the black flight from enemy hands [2] and come to terms with the state of his ruined flight. The Waking Shores fell dormant after the dragonflights left their homeland ten thousand years ago. Now, with Azeroth 's world-soul revitalized, the awesome primal might of the Shores stirs anew, rousing the dragons' ancient allies and age-old enemies from their long millennia of slumber. This land is stirring with the reawakening of elemental energies. Long ago, the elements were present in their most primal, unfettered form; however, the resurgence of magic in the Dragon Isles has caused that energy to reawaken. Geysers and hot springs are commonplace, and powerful streams and rivers carve grottoes into the colorful rocks and sediment. Waterways feed into the land's heart and the Life Pools of the red dragonflight. While millennia ago this area was populated with dragon architecture like the rest of the Broodlands, most of those structures have long since fallen into decay and become overgrown.
