The last train tv series

A random group of individuals on a train travelling between London and Sheffield are cryogenically frozen when the train crashes inside a tunnel and a canister of gas being carried by a passenger is released in their carriage. They unfreeze to find the United Kingdom in ruins. Unbeknownst to them, 52 years have passed. They wrongly believe weeks, then months, then just 14 years the last train tv series passed whilst they were frozen in time before eventually finding out the devastating truth.

As the asteroid strikes Africa, it triggers a global catastrophe and in England, the train is derailed in a tunnel, the gas escapes and the passengers are frozen. The group decide to stick together and make their way to Ark, pursued by packs of feral dogs and a tribe of hunters who are pursuing pregnant teenager Hild Caroline Carver who they take under their collective wing. The characters are tad on the thin side too, often little more than stereotypes, though the likable cast are good and do what they can. If it resembles anything, with its characters waking up in a world that no longer makes any sense to them, it anticipates Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes which Graham would create with Tony Jordan and Ashley Pharoah. The latter takes place in a spectacularly bleak final episode that also features euthanasia and has an ironic twist regarding the fate of the Ark scientists that Ambrose was hoping would save them.

The last train tv series

A catastrophe of global proportions wipes out almost the entire human race. A group of passengers on a train are saved because one of them is transporting a canister containing material that freezes them in suspended animation until they finally thaw out into the shattered aftermath. This small group of survivors will have to find a way to survive, to find water and food and to make their way across a destroyed landscape to a place called Ark where there is the promise of rescue. They are not, however, alone. The show starts off beng very reminiscent of the BBC post apocalypse series SURVIVORS , but this is not about those left alive trying to face the prospect of rebuilding society in the aftermath, but rather about a small group of people merely trying not to starve and trying to find a reason, any reason, to carry on. They are faced with wild dogs, collapsing factories, big cats, strange tribespeople and the ever present spectre of starvation. The BBC version couldn't boast most of that. Plot, though, is not the main strength of this production. That lies in the characterisation of the survivors and their depiction by a well-chosen group of actors. The group may seem like a bunch of cliches to start with practical northerner, dodgy geezer, slightly pompous copper, driven scientist, caring mother, selfish teenager, etc , but they round out throughout the series, revealing their depths as they go. There aren't any long speeches about motivation, just people getting on with it and showing who they are by how they do. The depiction of the future world, all broken and messy, is less well realised. There are some dodgy matte shots and the addition of litter isn't necessarily the best way to suggest apocalypse, but then but budget wouldn't have broken any blocks along the way.

The survivors from the train are hungry as they trek across the landscape towards what they hope will be the Ark and civilisation in Scotland. The rest of the group agrees to join her, since it seems like their best chance to find other survivors and a safe haven.

This show wasn't without faults but compared to most of the second rate rubbish ITV make , it totally stood out. Things really aren't going well for the survivors of the train crash and this episode hits home more than any of the others to date.

I thought parts of this were a little far fetched, I mean they went to the lock up to collect the van after 50 years, not only does it have tyres that haven't perished, an engine that hasn't seized, and a magic battery that is still able to take a charge after 50 years, but also a special type of diesel fuel that doesn't separate into waxy compounds over the years.. A nice spin on the post apocalypse Jase53 21 May The van crashes while chasing a wild boar, and then several of the men follow the boar's squeals into a derelict underground refinery.
