I cant help with the look nice part as I also lack in creativity and suck at building but for the storage and crafting situation Salendrak on yt has a tutorial on making a good storage and crafting system on his second episode of his Terraria Beginners Guide series and it worked very well for me in my master playthrough the amount of chests can be a tiny bit resource intensive but its just wood and iron or find chests in the world.
