Tapo home assistant

No idea really… For all who are into Tapo… Shout!! Thanks doc. Thanks for your input. Would it tapo home assistant that hard to implement the Tapo app I have on my galaxy phone into HA?

Does anyone know if the TP-Link P smart plug is supported on home assistant. It looks like it uses its own app called Tapo rather than the Kasa app. These plugs are cheaper and more compact than the HS plugs. After configuration,you can control the plug locally without any internet but your phone needs to connect to your home wifi network. Hi, Can you advise whether these plugs currently support control over the local network only similar to the HSx range of plugs without any requirement for an internet connection excluding firmware updates? Bad news I am afraid, it does not seem to work out of the box.

I have a tapo P plug and someone know how the plug receive wifi credential from the tapo app? Pretty sure it remains cloud based, so you need to add the device to the Tapo app and then add the config to the HA Tapo integration. I might have noticed that if you hit the eye to show the password, then submit, it seems to work, else same error? Update: This question has been withdrawn. I used a different way to get it working. Ok, I followed the hints from Britespark above and used the UI configuration in the linked video. Now both P are recognized, and I can switch them by HA. I did the update for Tapo, and for another number of HACS integrations, and following this, I lost all energy monitoring of my P sockets. At least two of my Tapo bulbs are not responding quite correctly either - I can sometimes control them directly via HA , but when used in a Scene, they are now not working as before. I have four Tapo bulbs in my living room, and have a number of scenes set for these - two bulbs are still working, but two are now not. I did have something like this before, at least 6 months ago, and I think it cleared on the next update.

I also tapo home assistant the Smart Buttons because they are cool and having rotating capabilities opens many possibilities, but without HASS integration the best I could do was to make it work through an Alexa routine but its quite slow anyways… but no way to integrate them in HA yet.

Please help me to complete the new roadmap. Tapo is updating its devices with a new firmware which use a new protocol called KLAP. This integration support it's but if you running older version your devices maybe cannot works. So please keep this integration up to date by using HACS! Although the integration works using LAN, the tapo device needs internet access to synchronize with tapo cloud, especially for credentials, a missing internet access could lead into "Invalida authentication error". Also a static IP must be set for device.

You need to provision your newly purchased device to connect to your network before it can be added via the integration. This can be done either by using kasa command-line tool or by adding it to the official Kasa or Tapo app before trying to add them to Home Assistant.
