The department prepares students to teach, work in industry or government, to pursue advance degrees, and to function as citizens able to reason analytically, independently and make critical judgments. The department consists of approximately 20 nationally and internationally recognized faculty whose research interests lie in a variety of areas of mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education.
