It is a meticulous process that becomes even more challenging for competitive battling.
From Pokemon whose strength comes from their versatility and unpredictability to those who rely on battering the opposition with high-powered assaults, offensive threats have defined the evolution of the DPPt metagame. Look at the top ten most used OU Pokemon: these offensive stars have been used on many teams because of their capabilities. But why? There are many ways to answer such a question. For example, take a Pokemon like Salamence. Salamence can tear through most of the OU metagame's walls, while a Dragon Dance makes it difficult to take it down without using priority or the inevitable Speed tie from something such as a Choice Scarf Jirachi.

How to use : Sweeper won't be able to take many hits, usually they will faint after hits, So having the iniative is important, and just as much important is to faint the enemy monster within one hit or 2. Damaging moves which will also restore the users HP or increase the stats are the way to go. Special Sweeper : EVs : Basicall the same as the physical one but with sp. A different may better way to counter is listed in pruple below. How to use : This is the most versatile variant, it will perform a bit worse than the specialized tanks, but it can take on both. You basically want to increase your stats and decrease the oponnents.
Hidden Power Fire can destroy Scizor switch-in. The main drawback that comes with using Volcarona is its crippling 4x Stealth Rock weakness, sweeper pokemon.
Art by anundeadboy. Whether to allow setup sweepers to boost their offensive stats in preparation for a sweep or to give defensively oriented teams a wincon that can increase its defensive stats to impenetrable levels, setup users are found on a variety of different playstyles. As a result, setup sweepers can easily pose a huge threat to any team if used properly and with the right support. There are a number of different setup moves in OU, each with their own unique uses, so let's take a look at them! Dragon Dance is an excellent setup move for physical sweepers, as it boosts both Attack and Speed by one stage.
It is a meticulous process that becomes even more challenging for competitive battling. Therefore, players must use Sweepers cautiously by understanding their strengths and weaknesses. Every day, players brainstorm new strategies or builds that change the game completely. The effectiveness of a Sweeper is often the determining factor of a battle, as they can quickly turn fights in their favor or debilitate players should they be defeated. Gengar has fallen out of favor for some thanks to an accuracy nerf to Hypnosis but is still capable of sweeping a team and benefits from a STAB to its Shadow Ball, making it a hard-hitting Ghost-type that's capable of out-pacing many opponents.

The addition of new mechanics such as Terastallizing promises to shake up predictable matchups and make formerly unappealing Pokemon now desirable for competitive players. Of course, new Pokemon are also catching players' eyes. However, only a certain number of these Pokemon are made to be sweepers, which refers to Pokemon on a competitive team whose job it is to get easy KOs on an opponent's team. These are the ideal sweepers out of the game's new mons. At first glance, Maushold may not seem incredibly valuable for competitive players. The family of mice has lackluster stats across the board, save for an impressive base Speed. However, it comes with a unique signature move in Population Bomb, which deals 20 damage and may hit somewhere between one and ten times.

It works more like a wall than a sweeper, because of it's slow speed, but it's able to hit hard. Finally there's Trick to pair with Choice Band and Choice Scarf for Metagross to screw around with Skarmory and Hippowdon switch-ins as they could not only lose an important item, they also are locked to using only one attack. The prevalence of Stealth Rock and Sandstorm hurts Salamence's performance. There isn't much merit to using both especially due to their lackluster accuracy ; however, using either one of them can cripple a switch-in. This isn't just excluded to Tyranitar though. Wall : EVs : def sp. Stone Edge is Gyarados's most powerful attack against Zapdos and other Gyarados. Additionally, the use of Tera types can give it even stronger coverage moves, like Stomping Tantrum, Trailblaze, Knock Off, and X-Scissor, among others. At best, Infernape can finish off a weakened Vaporeon in the lategame. While Flare Blitz sounds appealing with Swords Dance, the recoil does not. Magnezone is an excellent partner for this set, as it traps and eliminates Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, some of Mega Mawile's most consistent checks and counters. The only other option left is Leftovers to help Latias keep healthy.
Each Pokemon's skill in either of these stats determines what movesets they excel with, or what strategies players should use for them.
The support movepool is what makes Metagross very interesting. Gengar is an interesting Pokemon. It also has access to decent coverage moves like Poison Jab and Zen Headbutt. Damaging moves which will also restore the users HP or increase the stats are the way to go. Rock Polish is often a forgotten move, though Scizor makes it a bit harder to use. For those that thought that Dragon Dance was Salamence's only threatening moveset, I'm afraid to say that you are far from right. There is more to Gengar than meets the eye. Dragon Claw can prevent Salamence from locking itself early on and helps preserve Outrage for pinch situations. Its decent attacking stats and versatile movepool allowed it to wreck many UU Pokemon and even step into the OU spotlight. This shouldn't stop your thoughts of Heatran being a threat. With Levitate, Ghost-typing, and Poison blocking Toxic, Gengar has many opportunities to switch into an incoming attack. Additionally, the use of Tera types can give it even stronger coverage moves, like Stomping Tantrum, Trailblaze, Knock Off, and X-Scissor, among others. Dragonite's Ability, Multiscale , halves the damage taken when it is at full HP. Take Gengar's 1 threat, Scizor.
This simply matchless message ;)
