A year-old inmate charged with three murders is back in custody after escaping from the Sudbury District Jail on Saturday. Police say the wanted man, Joel Roy, was taken into custody without incident just after 6 p. Roy is charged with the murder of two men at a Sudbury hotel last December and in the death of a missing southern Ontario man whose body was discovered in a wooded area in the Wahnapitae area of Greater Sudbury this April. CTV News has reached out to both Sudbury police and the Sudbury jail for comment Sunday, those calls have not yet been returned. Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing and thanks the public for their assistance.

Benjamin Pownall and Jack Humphries left the open prison at around 5. Serving a four-year four-month sentence, Pownall was in for robbery, weapons and driving offences. Humphries had been jailed for seven years and two months for drug offences. Derbyshire Police said: 'Both have links to the Stoke area and the public are advised not to approach them.

Police launched an extensive search, drawing upon tips from the public, which police say was critical in the investigation. The tips eventually led investigators to a residence on Bulmer Avenue.
