Worse, said biker had fortified his gang with armor-piercing bullets, stolen from evidence by a compromised LAPD officer. Street and Jones traveled to L. Thanks to a tracking tag that the compromised LAPD officer had attached to the ammo, Squad got a bead on where the bullets had been stored. But when the two squads arrived there, a brief firefight broke out, and Jones was felled. Street kept an angry Squad — including, namely a version of his old self named Carnegie — from going off the rails in the wake of their team leader being shot.

What we did not expect was that we'd have to say goodbye to some of our favorite characters before the series finale. So what gives? Well, it turns out the decision to write Street off the show was made before filming began and it seems to be one that was made by the creative team, not by Russell. As production began on the final season of SWAT , TVLine broke the shocking news that the creative team had decided not to bring back Kenny Johnson and Alex Russell in series regular roles for the final season. Instead, it was announced that the two actors would appear in a recurring capacity for the final season. At first, this didn't seem all that bad as the assumption among fans was that we'd still get to see the two characters throughout the season, just perhaps not in every episode. Sadly, that has not been the case as it seems TVLine missed the mark or CBS changed the plans after the initial report broke. Russell did not appear in the first four episodes of the final season and episode 5 is being billed as Street's final farewell, this means that we'll get to see Street just once in the entirety of SWAT 's final season. If you ask me, that's not a recurring role, that's a guest spot which is truly shameful given Russell is an original member of the cast and his character has been an integral part of the show since the beginning. While showrunner Andrew Dettmann told TVLine that they had some really good episodes planned for Russell and Johnson, the original comments about their departures painted a much different picture than the one the show's final season has produced.
Buck was the officer that arrested James's mother which is how James and Buck met.
He is portrayed by Alex Russell. Street got into the foster care system, where it is implied that he had a rough time. His closest remaining contact from that time was his temporary foster brother, Nate, as well as Buck who kept an eye on Street throughout his police academy training until Buck gets fired and pulls strings to get Street onto S. Early on, Street proves to be a hotshot cop and a lone wolf, taking dangerous risks to get the bad guys, making Hondo question whether or not he's fit for S. He still visits his mother in prison and his manipulative and probably mentally ill mother does take advantage of him, which leads him into more trouble with Hondo.

Hondo was born to Daniel Harrelson Sr. When Hondo was a kid, his father left the family after falling in love with another woman and moved to Oakland, California , where he eventually had another daughter, Briana. As a kid, Hondo and two of his best friends, Leroy and Darryl, were part of a gang, but after Darryl's death, Hondo went to Crenshaw High School [2] and eventually joined the force. In , Hondo was unexpectedly promoted to Team Leader after Buck was fired for accidentally shooting an unarmed black teenager during a shootout in a blatant attempt to ease the tensions between the community and the LAPD. Four months before the series, Hondo began a surreptitious romantic relationship with Captain Jessica Cortez, which, while frowned upon, was not expressly forbidden by LAPD policy; however, after his promotion to Team Leader which put him directly under her command , the two struggle to keep their relationship secret.
