Stihl string trimmer troubleshooting
This trimmer has less than 1 hour on it. Just recently it's gotten a little tougher to start and does not run smoothly. It sounds as if it's breaking up, or is miss-firing. It just doesn't have that clean crisp sound. I've gone through the basics and made up a new batch of fuel with premium gas and Stihl mix. I just got a new spark plug but have not yet tried. Can anyone think of anything else specific to this trimmer? I can't see that it should need a carb tune with 30 minutes or so of total run-time. Hey all, I just wanted to report back with a resolution of the problem for those of you intrested in a solution. As is the case with most issues, this was caused by user or operator error. Apparently, I let the sting get too short which caused the trimmer to over-rev to the point it hit the built in rev-limiter.
Can anyone think of anything else specific to this trimmer? Thanks for posting back with the resolution. I have been assuming that the engine would just not rev higher.

The clutch is the part of the trimmer that engages and disengages the cutting head from the engine. When this part becomes worn or damaged, it can cause the trimmer head to become stuck in one position and not rotate properly. Additionally, a damaged clutch can also cause the cutting head to vibrate excessively, which can lead to further damage. To troubleshoot this problem, inspect the clutch for any signs of damage or wear. If any damage is visible, replace the clutch with a new one.
