Our Fellows can also help you apply for free financial aid. We are dedicated to helping high school students from low-income backgrounds get to college, whether they enroll at a 4-year university or community college. Students at our partner high schools can receive support from Fellows right on campus, and attend financial aid and college readiness workshops and events all year. From day one to graduation day, scholarship recipients may receive one-to-one support from our trained Fellows , who provide ongoing mentorship right on campus at our partner colleges or virtually, if they attend a non-Bay Area or non-partner campus. All current 10, Degrees scholarship recipients and alumni can participate in our Career and Alumni Success program , which provides career mentorship, an informational newsletter, internship opportunities, networking events, and more. SRJC offers two types of academic programs with occupational emphasis: programs leading to an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree and programs leading to a Certificate of Achievement or Skills Certificate. The program of study in a major provides coherence, focus, depth, sequencing, and synthesis of learning. Majors are intended to provide the student with a foundation for transfer, training for an occupational field, or sufficient depth in a field of knowledge to contribute to lifelong interest. The lower division preparation for a specific major at transfer institutions may vary, so students should work with a counselor to plan their lower division work. If a major field is not on the list, the student may still be able to prepare for this major by taking appropriate lower division courses. Please discuss such preparation, as well as any questions about an approved major, with a counselor. SRJC offers a broad array of occupational certificate programs that provide a course of study preparing students directly for employment or self-employment upon completion of the program. Most certificate programs are developed through the collaboration of SRJC faculty and industry leaders and employers who sit on Advisory Committees for the occupational disciplines.
