Impressions of music and musical equipment from my point of view. Soundgear basses have been a part of the Ibanez line-up for a long time, and I have always been taken by their appearance, which includes features like the asymmetrical headstock, oval fretboard inlays, and the carved body which its phallic upper horn. But, until now I have never had the chance to spend much time with one. This Soundgear bass is not an entry level bass, and falls in with the crowd of lower priced basses that have a lot of features for not much dough. The body is made of mahogany, and it is sprayed with clear urethane finish. The five-piece jatoba huh?

Always great sounding and very eye catching. While the changes may be small, you will be pleasantly surprised. The Ibanez custom 3 band EQ now has a bypass switch so you can play in active or passive mode. The EQ bypass switch is the top switch and the treble control acts as a passive tone control when the EQ is bypassed. While these changes may seem minor, they are welcome upgrades the Ibanez SRE. The Ibanez SRE 4-String Bass still performs just as great as its predecessor, and the minor changes are a great improvement not only for playability but for tone as well. As with any bass in the SR Series, it is great for all genres and all styles of playing whether you use your fingers, a pick, or are an avid slapper.
