My 16 year old daughter was misbehaving and I never spanked her before but the other day she was so disrespectful to me that I had no choice and sat down in the middle of the kitchen in an armless chair and placed her over my lap and spanked her bottom rapidly 39 times. She felt very embarrassed because she was wearing a top crop and her brothers all saw her smooth bare stomach panicking as it tried squirming off my lap but I secured her tummy with my arm so she behaves and continued punishing her! When I slid my arms underneath her stomach and lifted her off my lap she was blushing ferociously and told me how embarrassing and vulnerable it felt for her tummy to be "offered and available" over my lap! Growing up there were two main punishments me and my cousins received if we acted up: timeout, or a spanking. Sometimes our moms threatened us with spanking using a "chancla" sandal , a belt, or by hand. Given a choice between the two, I always preferred to be spanked by my mom. Timeout was awful. At the time, I never really realized the impact not letting me choose the consequences for bad behaviors would have on me. Though I did get to choose — the lesser of three evils — I sometimes what would've happened if I had authority over my own behaviors and got to have a say in what I should have to do without because of the way I'd acted.
