Ive read that you can test to see if its the solenoid if you unplug it. Can anyone tell me where the plug is? And will it be able to drive and shift with it unplugged temporarily of course? The electrical connector for OD and torque converter lockup is located on the drivers side of the transmission in front of the shift linkage just above the oil pan flange. It is a small 3 wire connector. Yes, you can drive the vehicle, you won't have OD or torque converter lockup.

The car will act like it has a manual transmission when cold, so the torque converter is lock on. I need to know where the TCC solenoid is. I have a pic courtesy of powertoolman's post on fixing a tranny, but I am not too sure if one of these solenoids are the TCC. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. It seems every so often the overdrive light on the gear shifter begins to blink and the transmission begins to act kind of erratic. Shifting between gears seems aggressively rough and overall performance is somewhat strange. When this issue began earlier in the year, all signs and along with my scanner pointed to the shift accumulator and so i changed it out. Its been fine for about 5 months now but the same issue just returned.

My harness was completely fucked too. Review another car. That tells you that it isn't because of an electrical problem in the TCC solenoid. I figured out the TCC solenoid is failing because of the malfunctioning brake switch. Put it in D and stalls dead.

I appreciate any and all help! When you pull the pan you will likely find more than the normal sludge in it. My suspicions on the cause is the harness at the shift pack gets ratty and stripped, wires get crossed. Thermal stress due to excessive heat and excessive vibration that causes sensitive parts to fail. I have posted this on the Ford truck forum and I'm not getting any new advice.
