The best mm lens is a true workhorse lens. Beloved by pro photographers and enthusiasts alike, this telephoto zoom focal range is ideal for all sorts of different shooting environments. Whether you're going for sports, wildlife, news, events, portraits or whatever else, a mm lens is one of the best ways to make sure you can get the shot. However, these lenses are designed for pros, and as such they tend to come with hefty pro-level price tags. They have the advantage of being lighter to carry, so can be a great choice for keeping your kit relatively lightweight and mobile. As mm lenses are designed for advanced users, they're always built with full-frame cameras in mind. If weight is an issue vs geting a tack sharp image I would reconsider photography especially if you are really into birding 'cause once you get a hold of a mm or mm lens then we can discuss weight but at this level I have never heard a serious photographer getting great photos with a mm lens no matter the brand complain of it's weight.

A shorter minimum focal length allows you to get more of the scene in the photo, and offers a wider angle of view than longer focal lengths. Cheap alternatives 6. This is the closest distance that the lens can focus. Transmission refers to the amount of light that reaches the sensor through all of the glass elements of a lens, with a lower TStop signifying more light. Sharpness No reviews yet. This is important as less light reaching the sensor can lead to the requirement of higher ISOs or slower shutter speeds. But it's otherwise an excellent all-around telezoom workhorse and won't disappoint. Which are the most popular comparisons? Crop sensor lenses are a little bit more difficult to sell, that is why I am reluctant to buy them along with compatibility. A higher zoom range means that the lens is more versatile.
