Behind the colorful curtains and extravagant performances, there lies the dark side of a circus life, hidden away from the smiles and praises of the audience. Set in early 20th century Japan, Midori: Shoujo Tsubaki highlights the misdeeds that occur in circus camps. Based on a Suehiro Maruo manga, Midori was banned pretty much everywhere for years and the experience seemed to have put the director also the animator off so much, he moved from film to video games. A shame for movie fans because of the artistry on display here, even if some of the stills were replications from the manga. What a wonder that this movie even exists! If you dare to delve into the world of Suehiro Maruo you will be rewarded with the worst nightmares imaginable. OMGG i loved it!! Nice script and very creative.
