The Sea Dragon Leviathan is a colossal leviathan class fauna species. It is the largest aggressive creature of Subnautica. The Sea Dragon Leviathan's body mostly resembles the Sea Emperor Leviathan , albeit much smaller and slimmer in design. The body is mostly dark green in color, along with purple accents on its webbed limbs and head. It has protective plates on the underside of its body that start at the neck and run down to where the tentacles begin. Many of its body parts are adorned or spotted with orange bioluminescent glows, and many small spines line its lower jaw and arms. The head of the Sea Dragon is stout and reptilian, possessing two pairs of glowing orange eyes with white pupils, a crack-like pattern spreads from the pupils to the rest of the eye. The mouth contains a pink tongue and thirty-two large teeth, visible even when the mouth is closed. The tip of the snout features two short, green protrusions with orange glowing tips. It also has a second set of larger fin-like protrusions beneath its lower jaw.

The Sea Dragon Leviathan is a colossal, leviathan class species with the length of meters, making it the largest aggressive creature of the crater currently known. It has the ability to shoot fireballs and molten rocks. Although not mention in any databank entry, it is quite similar to the Sea Emperor Leviathan. Sea dragon leviathan has a massive dark green body, with seven tentacles, reptilian-like head, dorsal sail-like fin, and purple markings all over its body. On the head, it has two pair of glowing orange eyes, two protrusions with orange glowing tips, two sail-like fins, and another two protrusions below its jaw. Meanwhile, it bears hard protective plates on its chest, lined with hollows of orange bioluminescent. These dots of orange bioluminescent continue to its tentacles.

Leviathan is a classification given to extremely large creatures of the Subnautica universe. Although the wording of the Reaper Leviathan 's databank entry would seem to imply that the leviathan classification is exclusive to predatory life forms, this is not the case; any fauna species of a suitable size can be classified as a Leviathan. Although the term "Leviathan" is used to refer to a large mythical aquatic creature in the real world, there is no confirmation on whether the Leviathan classification is restricted to fauna in the Subnautica universe, or is simply the term used for any species of a sufficient size. Leviathan is not part of a taxonomic classification, so does not imply any of the species classified as such are related. In fact, the only two that appear to have any close relation are the Sea Emperor Leviathan and Sea Dragon Leviathan who share several features including an almost identical body shape, seven identically positioned tentacles dotted with glowing spots, two forelimbs and a pair of light-producing organs atop their snouts. These two most likely shared a common ancestor that has since diverged into a smaller, cave-dwelling predatory species and a larger, planktivorous species residing in the open ocean.
