Little did we know just how much of a treat it would be. Patrons start to salivate before they even look at the menu! Founded by Reuben Schwartz, a Jewish immigrant from Romania, the deli is still in its original location , and the original recipe remains unchanged. Today, the deli is an integral part of the Plateau framework. Local storefronts and boutiques populate the trendy neighborhood. It was a novel experience for our American family to sit with people from all over the world. We marveled at the camaraderie and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. They prepare it on location, using a secret blend of locally produced herbs and spices. There are several unbelievable stories about the origins of the restaurant. This place is an old time deli with delicious smoked meat. The chicken and steak was good as well. I was nervous about trying the smoke meat. But is was so good and the service was good. From the time I entered the deli to my leaving every employee made sure I was ok and taken care of. Had a side of fries and a Coke to top things off. Very busy place which shows how good it is. Will definitely go back next time we visit Montreal. March It's almost always very busy and it's a cramped diner vibe.
