Until they garner their own official category, that is how it will have to stay.

I thought it was time to address the issue of Toy and Teacup miniature schnauzers. Recently, there has been an influx of breeders who are breeding and selling Toy and Teacup miniature schnauzers. Although they call themselves miniature schnauzer breeders, the proper term would undoubtedly have to be backyard breeders. Responsible and ethical breeders of the miniature schnauzer would never breed for such obvious flaws and characteristics not recognized by its originators. The breed standard for the miniature schnauzer is quite specific as to the proper size of the American Miniature Schnauzer. The breed standard states as outlined by the American Kennel Club and the American Miniature Schnauzer Club , that the acceptable size for the miniature schnauzer is 12 to 14 inches in height at the withers. The breed standard also states that the miniature schnauzers should be a robust dog and NOT have any suggestions of toyishness. Obviously, Toy and Teacup miniature schnauzer breeders do not follow the same breed standard that responsible and ethical breeders follow. The breed standard for any breed are a set of guidelines ethical breeders follow to produce a uniform breed of dog.
